 Organizations with gross receipts that average $50,000 or less are required to file the 990-N (also called the e-postcard) annually.  This requirement applies even to small organizations not required to apply for exemption

Voluntary Employee Reclassification Program

The IRS recently announced a new voluntary compliance program that allows employers to get back into compliance if they have misclassified their employees as independent contractors. The program will allow employers who qualify to get back into compliance with only a minimal payment on back taxes owed.  More information on the program can be found here on the IRS' website.

Automatic Revocation of Nonprofits' Tax Exemption

The IRS is continuing to revoke the tax-exemption of nonprofit/exempt organizations who have failed to file in the last three years.  The revocation list, procedures for reinstatement, and other helpful information can be found here on the IRS' website.
